History / facts and figures
Vienna, 1931: Bruno Kopal establishes a furniture haulage company.
In addition to its specialisation in the haulage of furniture and removals, the company also gets a firm foothold in the haulage of instruments, and is soon the haulage contactor of choice for the world’s most famous orchestra: the Viennese Philharmonic Orchestra. Incidentally, we still maintain this business connection today.
Waldviertel, 1965: Franz Hauer commences trading in potatoes.
He spends most of his time in his Steyr 380 on the road between Waldviertel, Vienna and Graz. As a supplier to Kelly’s Potato Chips, word soon gets around that he is reliable, and the fleet is increased to comprise 11 HGVs.
Over the years, both companies successfully consolidate their respective business activities, managed by the next generation, and work together on projects.
In 1997, Robert Hauer buys the partner company Anton Kopal. However, both companies still act independently.
In 2000, in the form of Alexander Poindl, grandson of the company founder Franz Hauer, the third generation takes over the management of the company. He modernises the company, and continues to consolidate its market position as a highly-professional removal company.
In 2001, the two companies merge under the new company name of “Hauer & Kopal”.
